There’s something magical about seeing Glacier National Park for the first time — and even more magical when you’re witnessing it as newlyweds.

Nina and Eddie met me in Glacier National Park just after their intimate wedding ceremony to take some relaxed, elopement-style portraits. They wanted something wild, scenic, and real — and Glacier delivered tenfold.
A Love Full of Laughter
The moment I met Nina and Eddie, I knew the day was going to be full of joy. They laughed easily and often, the kind of couple that reminds you love doesn’t have to be complicated to be deeply meaningful. When I asked what part of their wedding day they’d never forget, they burst out laughing together. Their answer? Eddie’s mom crying only five minutes into the morning. It was heartfelt, funny, and the perfect start to the kind of day where emotion lives right on the surface.

First Time in Glacier Magic ✨
Eddie had never been to Glacier National Park before which made his reaction stepping out of the car that much more powerful. His jaw literally dropped. Both of their faces lit up with pure awe, and honestly? I felt that same way the first time I ever saw these mountains too.

We made our way down to a rocky outcropping to start taking portraits. We kept things natural — focusing on movement, laughter, and connection instead of stiff poses.

Nina looked incredible in her cape, which wrapped around her and added so much motion and drama to the photos. (Brides, if you’re wondering if a cape is too extra… this is your sign: it’s not.)

They climbed over loose rocks and uneven ground to reach a huge rock formation with the kind of sweeping view you see in travel magazines. Naturally, they threw their arms open and recreated a “everything-the-light-touches” moment. Iconic.

We even took a moment to just be. To sit quietly and look out over the mountains — no camera clicks, no posing — just awe and presence.

A Spontaneous Stop for Sunset Light
After some time exploring, I told them we were going to stop at a tunnel for more photos. But as we were driving, I spotted this overlook just drenched in golden sunlight. I pulled over kind of abruptly (oops) and they looked mildly alarmed, like something went wrong but I waved them out and said, “The light here is too good to pass up!”
I’m so glad we stopped.

Sunset Picnic at Lake McDonald
We wrapped up the evening at Lake McDonald with a little post-wedding picnic celebration. Think: salami and cheese sandwiches, sunset views, and deep blue mountain reflections across the lake.

Apparently, Eddie is very sensitive to sour foods, which made for some hilarious reactions.

But the real star of the show was their impromptu dance break and the romantic dips that turned into jaw-dropping photos. (Eddie really pulled out all the stops!)

As the sun dipped lower, we took a few more portraits of them separately, documented their matching necklaces, and soaked up the final quiet moment of the day.
